Machete is out on DVD (sort of)

So I’m literally killing minutes at my desk and think “What’s up with the DVD release of Robert Rodriguez’s grindhouse masterpiece in the making, Machete?” I look on Amazon, and lo and behold, there’s already been a Mexsploitation film of the same name. It looks fantastic! And I dig the look of the Latin chick on the cover. Foxy. Have to check this one out with subtitles.

Otherwise, no release date for the other Machete–other than it’s being made according to Danny Trejo.

There are giant robots, and then there are Giant Robos

I got this Japanese die-cast Missle Version Giant Robo and he’s just the balls. What made him even better was I paid only $15 for him at a pleasantly overwhelming Tampa Comic and Toy show. It was jam-packed and the dealer room was like 3 VULKON’s in one. This guy, plus an excellent bootleg copy of Alligator on DVD, were my purchasing highlights.

I also really love the Ginrei PVC that was included. I even have her displayed on one of my bookshelves now, standing coyly next to my Hot Rod Alternator. She’s a great sculpt.

My only minor gripe (and what would be DOOMblog without those) is that he’s heavy as hell. Like potential murder weapon heavy. But I guess I’m the dumbass that bought his heavy ass. And he is like 80% die-cast, so what did I expect? And he’s got missles-a-plenty that can be snapped in or out just like his two different pairs of hands. He makes me want to watch the anime again. I hope I can find my old VHS of Giant Robo.

The downright cadverous beauty of Movie Arcee

I got this one last week coming home from a job interview (which I didn’t get–grrr), where I stopped by a Kaybee toys in BFE that had some Wave 2 deluxes–much to my delight. They had 1 Longarm, 3 Arcees, and 4 butt-ass ugly Dreadwings.

I’ve wanted this one since I saw the first pics of her a while back. And I like her a lot. I prefer the robot mode much better than her prom dress pink alt. mode. And I came home happy that day, still filled with hope that I’d get hired for a job I knew deep in my heart I was absolutely qualified for.

Warming this geek’s heart

Well, I stop by my house during lunch this afternoon, and what has arrived? Why, my shiny new Encore Optimus Prime from TFsource.com!

He rocks and I can’t wait to open him up. Pics are on the way–no worries. For that matter, as soon as I get around to it, I’ll be showing off more of my lame-ass plastic robot collection. I mean, a three day weekend is coming up after all. And my Flickr gallery is growing, thanks to actually having a decent digital camera now.

What a difference some labels make

In a spare moment today at work, I’m cruising around some dork sites and see these kick-ass new labels for Music Label MP3 player Soundwave. Have I mentioned how bad ass reprolabels are?

I almost want one now—but I SO don’t have the money right now. Damn.

Come onnnn new job!

Going off the rails on an Astrotrain

Lately I’ve been trying to get a hold of all the Classics line that I can get a hold of. Astrotrain was definitely on my list and I found a good deal on him on Amazon of all places. I find him far superior to the original G1 toy with all the obviously better possability. Even his train mode looks very Disney monorail-ish. And how can you not love a mostly white, triple-changing plastic robot with a huge frakin’ purple rifle?

What more can I say? I like him.

Now THIS is funny

The bitching continues on seibertron.com as a new Transformers Animated toy prototype surfaces.
I love how a show and accompanying toys geared for 12 year olds, that hasn’t even come out yet, pisses so many TF geeks off. Just read the story’s comments for further evidence.

This geek can’t wait for the mad crazy fun they seem to offer. I’ll take whatever they don’t want.

OK for a re-paint, I guess

For the record, I’ve never been a detractor of re-paints just because they were re-paints. I do sometimes think they are pretty gimmicky, but at least the G1 seekers have a long tradition of re-paints in their history. What makes this Movie Thundercracker (Movie Starscream Voyager re-paint) nice is that they at least used a new head. A lot of TF geekdom was pretty split in the like or dislike of Movie Starscream–I for one really like him.

Anyways, just to nitpick, not so sure I really like the contrasting legs. He almost looks like he’s wearing gray shorts. The sad part is–I’ll buy him anyways. I’m truly doomed.

For us Soundwave fans

I love this thing. You should too!

If I got this I’d just have to write “Summer Lovin’ 1985″ on it.

I don’t know why I want this…..

…but this Japanese Wonder Festival 2007 exclusive Transformer KISS Player manga just looks cool to me.

I still don’t get the idea of KISS players, really and frankly I don’t want to–but this still looks cool to me. Maybe it’s the giant watercolored Optimus head on the cover??
