Now…for some good news…at least to me it is

I have to say I kinda surprise myself at my feelings of Sienna Miller playing the Baroness in the upcoming live-action G.I. Joe movie for 2009.

Dye that hair black, add some rounded, black-framed glasses, and, lest I forget, the oh-so-important-skintight black vinyl suit and–VOILA!

I like this casting. Not sure why.
The only actress I can think of that would also make a good Baroness would be Kate Beckinsale.

And whilst I’m geeking away here–how about Angie Everhart as Scarlett?
I LIKE IT!

I’ll even go so far as to say that I won’t mind most casting choices for this film as long as there are no Affleck’s, Keanu’s, or Lillard’s involved. I doubt they could make something as lovably cheesy as a G.I. Joe film and screw up much casting. As a matter of fact, it could make the film even more amusing if they woefully miscast a few parts. Like Jimmy Fallon as Barbeque or Josh Hartnett as Flint. I’ve got it–The Rock portraying Destro.

OR, how bout this,—Nick Nolte as Duke??

I like it. We need a leader that’s at the end of his rope.

Bad, lame-assed robot news abounds for me

Yesterday was a bad day for the Agent of Doom:

First off, it’s confirmed that BotCon 2008 is being held in Cincinnati, OH, as opposed to the earlier rumors of an Orlando, FL venue—thus absolutely shooting all to hell the chance for me to attend.

Then, I read that the Transformers Animated series will premiere on Cartoon Network in January 08, but that the toys themselves are rumored to come out in late Spring/Early Summer of ‘08!
Damn it!!

Well, there is, of course, Megacon 08 in Orlando next March, which I will most definitely be attending. Just check out these media guests HERE. Oh yes–Mark (Romo Lampkin) Sheppard will be there, along with one of my long-time unhealthy celebrity objects of obsession, Kristy Swanson.

I’ve had a thing for her ever since Mannequin 2. Her Buffy role didn’t help matters to the then 16 year old Agent of Doom.

Thoughts on Battlestar Galactica: Razor (no spoilers–kinda)

So last Sat. night, instead of my usual Torchwood viewing, I watch the premiere of my long awaited Battlestar Galactica: Razor and needless to say–I was NOT disappointed in the least. My DVR did a perfect job of getting Torchwood whilst I sat transfixed for two very fast hours.

My feelings:

On the Shaw character:

I thought that she was definitely an interesting character, so much so, that it’s really too bad we didn’t really see her except for this movie/episode. A shame, really.

On Kara “Starbuck” Thrace (aka “Harbinger of Death???):

WOW. Didn’t see that coming at all…..I’m hoping that it will be cool.

On the Season 4 preview:

Coming March 2008. MARCH!!?? What–the–frak!???

Like it’s bad enough I waited this long for this thing–now Season 4 has gone from Jan 08 to March!??? Oh, how I hate the Sci Fi channel sometimes….

At this rate Eureka is probably on hold till Fall 2008….grrrrrrr

What more could I expect from the same network that shows wrestling and Dresden Files?

FRAK ‘EM.

Movie title of the day

Of the obsessiveness that obviously accompanies any collector of anything, I came across something I can truly appreciate.

A guy who has compiled an archive of just the opening title sequences of films. What a truly wonderful and bizarre obsession. View the madness HERE.

In honor of this, and imitation honestly being the sincerest form of flattery, I’m thinking of doing something similar in this very blog. For now, I will simply give you Humanoids from the Deep. What an awesome movie.

This has me thinking of going full bore into my Horrors of the Comic Arts page. The gallery of true suckatstic-ness.

Black is the new white -or- The Agent of Doom needs to fill up his shelves even more

The other night I was looking at one of my shelves of Transformers and really feel as if I’m needing some Robot In Disguise figures, since I have exactly zero at this point. Although I am using the term “need” a bit loosely here, as when does any grown man ever need plastic toys? Ummmm…right—ANYWAYS:

The Scourge/Nemesis Prime family from Robots in Disguise seems really cool to me. I gotta get a hold of these from somewhere. Perhaps after I get my Encore Starscream and G1 Metroplex.

I’ve noticed there are some deals to be had on RID Transformers lately. The train combiners are badass as well.

An early Christmas gift

So Friday night I’m hanging out at an old friend’s house for dinner and such. Much to my surprise he gave this movie to me and my brother-in-law as we were leaving:

And now I know what I’m saving to watch for Christmas. I’ve got high hopes for this one. As this Santa “spreads holiday fear.”

This should be perfect in a double feature with Silent Night, Deadly Night.

Read about it here.

Now there are even more Transformers Animated toy pics

Thanks once again to seibertron.com, they have links to more Ebay auctions involving animated prototypes.
All I can say is even with all the mixed feelings I’ve read in various Transformer geek web circles, Hasbro BETTER make enough of these damn toys. I have this gut feeling that as soon as they are seen in the flesh by the collecting fandom, they will gobble them up TF Movie Toy style.

They say they don’t like them now, but we shall see.

And is it me or does Lockdown not look kinda like a Death Race 2000 homage?

Where the hell was I???

There is finally an extended Iron Man movie trailer!!

I think I have naively high hopes for this one. It could very well be the best Marvel movie yet. Pretty easy to do when your making stuff like Ghost Rider and Man Thing.
I’ve always liked the Iron Man comic and for those who also like shell head, here’s a pretty cool site.

He’s back, but no chair this time.

New Star Trek movie news found here.

I honestly felt kinda “meh” about the new Trek movie until I just read this.

What’s crazy to me is the resemblance this guy actually has to the original Capt. Pike. Good job. The movie does definitley have the chance of sucking badly, however.

We shall see.

A depressing trip down memory lane (again) -or- How the Agent of Doom realized that he’s going in reverse and decided to get all angsty and existential about it.

“I’m not getting older, I’m getting better……right?”

I was recently reading some of the bitching people do when confronted with the enormous premiums paid to attend dorky, geeky conventions like BotCon, SD Comic Con, Megacon–that stuff.
What it brought to light to me was just how many geeky conventions try to capitalize on a fanbase that proportionally gets older and the income, in theory, follows by getting larger.

That is, unless, you are someone like me.

As I get older, I have even less disposable income than I had in my late teens and early 20s. My life is now filled with the unrelenting reality of rent payments, insurance, credit cards, student loans…I’m sure it sounds familiar.
And that SUCKS! Regardless of how much money I make, adult responsibility does take over. Forever gone are the days where the smell of cholorine filled my nostrils as Lionel Playworld’s doors opened for an 8 year old Agent of Doom. The days where I had an allowance and my greatest worry was “Would they have the figure I was looking for?” And I’d give anything to have the 12″ Cylon figure with the light up, moving eye I once had, and then eventually dropped into a deep water well. I was smart enough at the time not to try to get it and become an afterschool, made-for-TV special.

There was no responsibility. Just toys, records, comics and cartoons.
It’s when this perspective kicks in, I realize my best years have probably passed by, and I wasn’t anywhere near self-aware enough to know it at the time.
And regardless of how much crap I accumulate in my life, with what little money I have left after bills, I’ll never fully capture what I had in my youth. I feel like that broken group of Soundwave parts pictured above. Obsolete, once the shit, and now I’ve become a TRU reissue with a wider tape deck. I’m not who I used to be and never will be, despite how much crap I still buy that I loved as a kid.

Ughhh….getting old really can suck balls.
