Another year, another MegaCon

Another year, another MegaCon in Orlando this weekend.

Of course I’m going, but only solo this time. My sister and brother-in-law couldn’t make it, my boy Matt’s a no go (again) and I may see some people there I know, but otherwise, I’m flyin’ solo ( as per usual!)

And not surprisingly to those who know me, this fact doesn’t bug me in the slightest. Let’s face it, as most real dorks know, we ain’t exactly the most extroverted bunch traditionally. My general aversion to social situations has left me with few friends in truth, but that’s how I roll anyways. And it does make things easier.

I’m actually more stoked than usual for this years edition of Florida’s largest geek orgy! Now perhaps I can ogle some freaks/cosplay chicks with even less shame now. And, oh yeah—Adam Hughes will be there!

More Macross Frontier Bandai goodness

The oh-so-blindingly-insanely awesome Valk kits keep coming from Bandai. Now we get a look at the upcoming VF-25G Mikael custom 1/72 scale kit. Fully transformable and FULLY BALLS AWESOME.

As my desire decreases for more Transformers, my Valkyrie squadron will take its place among the pile. Who needs more TFs anyways?

This sucker is as good as pre ordered. Oh yes.

On the Journey to Toy Robot Nirvana

robo_nirvana

In BuddhismNirvana is the state of perfect peace reached by not wanting more than you have. It is every Buddhist’s goal to achieve Nirvana. The Buddha described it as:

“the far shore, the subtle, the very difficult to see, the unaging, the stable, the undisintegrating, the unmanifest, the unproliferated, the peaceful, the deathless , the sublime, the auspicious, the secure, the destruction of craving, the wonderful, the amazing, the unailing, the unailing state, the unafflicted, dispassion, purity, freedom, the unadhesive, the island, the shelter, the asylum, the refuge…” (SN 43:14)

What does this have to do with my unhealthy obsession with toy robots? Well let’s just say I finally saw me some Macross Frontier. I saw the insanely awesome new Valk fighters. I more importantly saw both the Bandai Chogokin toys and the 1/72 scale transformable snap kits. Let’s just say I’m getting the snap kits. I’m going to assemble the said kits and I may be retiring from obtaining new toy robots indefinitely. For I will then already possess the Alpha and Omega of plastic robot love.

Yes. That’s what I’ve been up to lately. The end of the journey. Will you join me in this enlightenment?
